Welcome to the Hostal Runa Huasi!

The town of Salasaca is about half an hour by bus, from Ambato on the way to (Pelileo) Banos. Just ask the driver to leave you in Salasaca at the first gas station and then ask a local to point you towards Hostal Runa Huasi or Senor Alonso Pilla. There is also a cooperative of pickup trucks (taxis) to take you to the hostal in Manzamapamba Chico.

The hostal is located next to the viewpoint PUNTA RUMY (sacred stone) and DIABLO CAMA (Devil´s bed), sacred places of the Salasaca Indians. The Salasacas, are descendants of the Incas. Here, the Incas came to ask their gods to improve their musical ability and their voices so that they would be the best messenger among the villages.

The Inca Rumiñau passed through this place after the death of Atahualpa in the war with the Spaniards. Rumiñahui, with the people of his community brought many treasures to hide in the mountain called LLANAGANATE.

The Apus or Apukunas also lived in this region. The Apus were knowledgeable people, and strongly opposed the aggression of the mestizos, defending their communities.

The Hostal Runa Huasi (indigenous house) is owned and operated by the Pilla Family, Indigenous Salasacan Indians and Artisans.
